Where did my money go?

Where's My Money? is a minimalist app for income and expenses. Most budgeting apps and expense trackers expect you to log every payment for months before you can see anything. Where's My Money? works the other way round: enter your typical monthly and yearly amounts and see straight away, in a Sankey diagram, where most of your money goes.

Frequently asked questions

Does Where's My Money? need access to my bank account?

No. The app has no bank link and does not import any transactions. You enter your typical monthly and yearly amounts yourself.

Where is my financial data stored?

On your device. There is no cloud, no user account and no sign-up. The app shows no ads and includes no tracking.

Do I have to record every single expense?

No, that is exactly what you skip. Instead of a transaction log you enter typical amounts per category, such as rent per month or insurance per year. Add smaller items whenever they come to mind.

How long does it take to get the first result?

About 15 minutes if you roughly know your main figures. Entry is built for speed: a number pad, built-in calculators and suggested categories.

What is a Sankey diagram?

A flow diagram in which the width of each flow matches the amount. Income flows from left to right into spending blocks, so large items stand out as wide flows without comparing any numbers.

Is there an app that creates a Sankey diagram of my finances?

That is exactly what Where's My Money? is built for. You enter your monthly and yearly figures, the app creates your Sankey diagram from them, and you can save it. Premium adds a live view that shows the diagram directly.

How is this different from Sankey generators in the browser?

An online generator produces a one-off picture: you type your figures into someone else's website and start over with every change. Where's My Money? keeps your figures and your diagram on the device, without your numbers leaving it.

Can I save and export my Sankey diagram?

Saving is part of the core features. Export without watermark is part of Premium, as is the Sankey designer for the look of the diagram.

Can I also record assets and debts?

Yes, in the Balances tab. It shows what you have right now and what you still owe: assets such as savings, investments or money you have lent, and debts such as loans or money you have borrowed. Balances are kept separate from your cash flow and are rough figures, like everything in the app.

What does the app cost, and what does Premium add?

The core features are usable at no extra cost. Premium is a one-time in-app purchase without subscription and unlocks the Sankey designer, live view, level of detail and export without watermark.

Which devices is the app available for?

For Android via Google Play and for iPhone via the App Store.
